Growing up in Bombay (now Mumbai), India, I was surrounded by the vibrant, bold flavors of Indian cuisine. Despite being a picky eater, food always brought moments of joy, especially during meals with family and friends. When I moved to Edinburgh in 2010 for my education, I faced a culture shock—especially with food. Away from home, I turned to my parents for help, learning to cook through late-night Skype calls and rediscovering the comfort of Indian cooking.

In 2014, I moved to Austin, Texas, and was captivated by the world of Texas barbecue. Its smoky, rich flavors reminded me of the joy I’d felt back in Mumbai. I started experimenting, blending Indian spices with barbecue techniques, and realized I’d stumbled upon something special. That’s how TX Tikka: Texas Indian Barbecue was born—a unique fusion of my roots and my new home.
